2 German Tornados

1. Tornado IDS "Blue Lightning" (2003), painted to celebrate 20 years of Tornado operations and 45 years Boelcke squadron anniversary. This is the Hasegawa kit (1/72) so it has inaccurate tail and nose profiles; now I would use either Revell or Italeri. All the markings are home-made apart from the German crosses and aircraft number - some are made on photoshop and printed as decals, others such as the lightning flashes are hand-painted.



2. Tornado ECR, 322sqn. On June 18th 2002, the “MonsterJet 2002” was rolled out and had its first flight in these elaborate colours. On December 9th 2004 it crashed killing both crew. This model, Italeri 1/48, is built as a tribute. All the markings are hand-painted directly onto the model apart from the 'eye' which is painted onto clear decal sheet and the German crosses and numbers.
