1/144 MDD Phantom FGR2

Back in 1992 the RAF disbanded it's Phantom squadrons. Airframe XV404 was already a grounded example when it was given a spectacular tiger paint scheme for the final retirement event. Following this it sat at the edge of Wattisham airfield awaiting removal by the scrapman along with a number of other examples. It was such a sad sight.
So I built this little 'diorama' as my own tribute. That was a long time ago now, but as year is the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Phantom, I have brought this out and will display it along with some other Phantom models at shows this year.
The models are hand painted.
Dans l'année 1992, la RAF a retiré du service les squadrons équipés de Phantom. L'avion XV404 était déjà au sol quand il lui a été appliqué un spectaculaire marquage de peinture de Tigre pour fêter la cérémonie finale du retirement. Après, il est exposé en statique au bord du terrain d'aviation de Wattisham, en attendant l'enlèvement par le ferrailleur avec un certain nombre d'autres exemplaires. C'était une vue très triste.
Ainsi j'ai construit ce petit diorama en tant que mon propre hommage. C'était il y a longtemps maintenant, mais comme cette année est le cinquantième anniversaire du premier vol du Phantom, j'ai apporté ceux ci dehors et je les montreraient avec quelques autres modèles Phantom aux expositions cette année.
Les modèles sont peints à la main.
